Standing office – Reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease
According to the research, prolonged sitting will increase the risk of getting cardio related disease thus it is not recommended in office setting. Research has also shown standing office can reduce the risk of getting heart disease and stroke. However, prolonged standing is not beneficial to health because this could increase the heart beat and increase the risk of getting heart disease. Thus, prolonged standing and sitting are not recommended in a work place. One should always change position and maintain a good posture when working in order to maintain their health.
Tips from physiotherapist
- Avoid prolonged standing; try to move in every 20 to 30 minutes
- The eyes should keep same level to the monitor, the distance between the monitor and the eyes should be around 20 inches.
- Elbow and the keyboard should keep in 90 degrees
- Maintain a good posture (avoid bend over the head and neck)
